Here is the solution from the manufacturer’s customer service dept on battery and charger issue.
UPDATE: When charging the Mag-lith-ion battery you must push hard on top of the battery to make sure it is engaged fully in the charger for it to properly seat and begin the charging process.
Situation: A blinking Red light does indicate a defective battery, however we have found that most of the time the battery is just not seated fully in the charger. In those rare instances where this does not solve the problem, we have found that if the 3 metal connections on the bottom of the battery are adjusted to make sure all 3 are making contact in the charger, this corrects the situation.
